Considerate Constructors Scheme opens new College building

Colin Kemp opens new college building on behalf of the scheme
The Considerate Constructors Scheme was delighted to be asked by Oaklands College in St Albans to open its new wood trades building during National Construction Week.

The new facility, where students can learn skills such as cabinet making, shop fitting and wood machining was opened by Colin Kemp, one of the Scheme’s Site Monitors.

Colin Kemp said: “It was great to come and visit the new facilities at Oaklands and to see where our construction workers of the future will come to learn and hone their skills. Since the Considerate Constructors Scheme was launched in 1997, the industry is now a more accountable, responsible, respectful, cleaner and environmentally aware industry in which to develop a new career.”

Oaklands Principal, Mark Dawe, added: “National Construction Week was a perfect occasion to launch our new centre and to celebrate the opportunities there are within this industry.”
